Gabrielle Ciquier, M.A., M.Sc., Ph.D. Candidate, Practicum Placement
Gabrielle is a Doctoral student in the Counselling Psychology (PhD) program at McGill University and holds an MSc in Psychology and an MA in Counselling Psychology. She is completing a practicum placement at Nova Mental Health and is offering clients with reduced-fee services ($50 per session), under the supervision of Dr. Gabriela Ionita. Gabrielle has already successfully completed a number of practicum placements providing psychological assessments and therapy. Recently, she completed a practicum at the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Unit at the McGill University Health Center. Her clinical work has focused on working with adults presenting a wide range of difficulties, including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and low self-esteem. She has also provided cognitive remediation therapy to individuals with cognitive decline due to stroke or neurodegenerative disease. In her clinical work, Gabrielle primarily uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, but incorporates other evidence-based modalities. In working with clients, Gabrielle is passionate about building strong, collaborative relationships with her clients and is keen to support them in attaining their goals. Gabrielle has also worked as a psychometrist and psychology assistant in several private clinics in Montreal and Vancouver. In these roles, Gabrielle was responsible for administering, scoring, and interpreting neuropsychological tests, writing reports and providing psychoeducation to clients seeking mental health treatment, all under the supervision of practicing psychologists. Gabrielle is also passionate about research in the field of psychology. She is currently working on her dissertation, which focuses on gaining an understanding of how psychologists make clinical decisions in psychotherapy and whether evidence-based practice is applied. |
