Neurodiversity-Affirming ADHD Assessments for Children, Teens, and Adults
Nova Mental Health offers brief Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessments that examine symptoms in depth and can provide you with a diagnosis accompanied by a report detailing your specific symptoms. If you are considering medication options, the report can be shared with your physician. It can also be shared with a school to help teacher's understand your child's needs and provide appropriate support. better support your child.
Our assessment process involves a thorough clinical interview, which lasts approximately one hour, along with the completion of standardized screening tools and rating scales and gathering information from parents, partners, teachers, or individuals familiar with the client. For children and teens, we review report cards. Following the assessment, we will meet to discuss your results and you will be provided with the report. Our assessments can be conducted online or in-person.
Although we provide a report, many universities and colleges have specific forms or letter requirements, which include recommended accommodations in detail. If you need one of these forms or letters, we would need to schedule a separate session (which would be billed separately), to discuss your needs in-depth and ensure we understand your learning environment fully. This allows us to provide the most helpful and accurate documentation.
Kindly note that we do not provide psychoeducational assessments or neurological testing. However, should you require additional assessments for learning concerns or other conditions that may impact attention and executive functioning, we can provide you with a list of practitioners who specialize in these services.
Your assessments will be conducted by Gabrielle Ciquier or Melanie Anglin (Provisional Psychologist), under the close supervision of Dr. Gabriela Ionita, Registered Psychologist.

How Your ADHD Assessment Works
ADHD assessments at Nova Mental Health use a collaborative assessment model under the direction of Dr. Gabriela Ionita, Licensed Psychologist.
As part of the assessment process, Gabrielle Ciquier, Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and PhD Candidate in Counselling Psychology, conducts the clinical interview and gathers relevant developmental, psychosocial, educational, and mental health history. She will also coordinate the collection of additional assessment information, including relevant records and collateral information from parents, partners, teachers, or others who know the client well.
Gabrielle will administer and/or coordinate standardized questionnaires and rating scales used as part of the assessment. Depending on the client's age and individual circumstances, these may include the Conners 4, Conners Adult ADHD Rating Scales, Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), and other measures when clinically appropriate.
Once the information has been gathered, Dr. Ionita reviews the clinical interview, assessment measures, collateral information, and relevant records. As the Licensed Psychologist responsible for the assessment, Dr. Ionita integrates and interprets the findings, determines whether diagnostic criteria for ADHD are met, makes the final diagnostic determination, and is responsible for the final psychological assessment report.
