Evidence-Based Counselling and Sport Mental Performance Training for Children, Teens, and Adults in North Vancouver & Across B.C.
Our Approach to Care
At Nova Mental Health, we are driven by a shared mission: to empower individuals and facilitate their personal growth, resilience, and well-being. Our team of dedicated professionals, including psychologists, counsellors, and social workers, is committed to providing evidence-based counselling services and assessments to help children, youth, and adults, navigate mental health challenges such as anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and stress-related concerns, and access high-quality therapy that supports emotional well-being and resilience.
Through evidence-based therapeutic techniques and a compassionate, collaborative approach, we strive to help clients develop new skills and strategies to help them manage the obstacles in their lives. We integrate the latest research evidence and adhere to best-practice guidelines, ensuring that our work is grounded in scientific evidence. We apply techniques and approaches from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), while tailoring our counselling and psychological services to meet the unique needs of each individual.
Our psychologists, counsellors, and social workers specialize in the areas of: anxiety, mood concerns, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related disorders, and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). We also provide support with behavioural concerns, addiction, relationship issues, and day-to-day stress. For clients with ADHD, we use a neurodiversity-affirming approach and currently offer ADHD assessments. In addition to counselling and psychological services, we offer sport and athlete mindset training to support performance, resilience, and emotional well-being in sport, as well as Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) groups to help caregivers support children experiencing anxiety and OCD-related struggles using a structured parent-based approach.
The growth of our therapists is also a priority for us at Nova Mental Health. We believe in cultivating a learning environment that fosters professional development, continuous education, and a passion for innovation. We encourage a collaborative culture, where therapists engage in ongoing training, supervision, and peer support, ensuring they stay at the forefront of therapeutic advancements and research. Our commitment to the growth and well-being of our therapists ultimately translates into better outcomes and support for our clients.
To accommodate busy schedules and diverse preferences, we offer flexible appointment times and virtual sessions, in addition to in-person sessions at our conveniently-located office. In-person sessions are offered at our North Vancouver office, and secure online therapy is available across British Columbia for children, adolescents, and adults seeking support for anxiety, ADHD, OCD, sport and athlete mindset training, ADHD assessments, and parent programs for supporting children with anxiety or OCD.
