Helping Adults and Couples Move Towards Mental Wellness Through Compassionate Care and Evidence-Based Therapy
Counselling for AdultsAt Nova Mental Health, our psychologists, counsellors, and social workers provide therapy to help adults manage the mental health issues interfering with the quality of their lives.
We know that many people are struggling with mental health issues, compounded by life stressors, and we don't want you to have to struggle alone. Many mental health issues are treatable or we can provide you with tools and strategies to help you better manage the mental health issues that are leading you to struggle. We use research-based approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Comprehensive Behavioural Intervention for Tics (CBIT), and Mindfulness Based Approaches. When working with couples, our counsellors and social workers prioritize creating a safe space for each person to be able to communicate vulnerably and openly, while managing conflicts and moving forward to where they want to be in a relationship. Couples Therapy is based on the Gottman Couples Therapy, developed by extensive research examining what leads relationships to succeed. Gottman highlights developing a friendship as a key ingredient for a healthy relationship and offers strategies for how to strengthen the bond between partners, to manage conflict that maintains the relationship, and to repair the bond when it has been damaged.
