Janelle Steckley, Psy.D. Student, Practicum Placement
Janelle Steckley is a Doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) program at Adler University. Janelle is completing a supplemental practicum placement at Nova Mental Health and is providing clients with free services at this time, under the supervision of Dr. Gabriela Ionita. Janelle has already successfully completed two full year Clinical Psychology practicum placements providing psychological assessments and therapy. She has completed training in the area of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectal Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and has facilitated DBT groups. In the past, Janelle worked as a youth support worker and has volunteered with children and youth in a variety of helping roles. She hopes to bring her strong clinical skills and strengths in building rapport with clients to providing counselling to youth, young adults, and their families. Her main areas of practice are in Anxiety and Depression. Janelle uses an integrative, evidence-based approach that is primarily informed by CBT, ACT, and DBT. In every case, Janelle endeavours to develop a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients that fosters trust and hope to create a secure base from which her clients can fulfill their emotional and support needs. |
