Compassionate, Evidence-Based, and Developmentally Tailored Support for Anxiety, OCD, ADHD and Behavioural or Emotional Concerns
At Nova Mental Health, our team of experienced psychologists, counsellors, and social workers is dedicated to providing evidence-based therapy and psychological assessments to assist children and youth in addressing and overcoming the mental health challenges that impede their well-being and ability to thrive. We support children and teens experiencing anxiety, OCD, ADHD, tics, BFRBs (Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours), and emotional and behavioural challenges.
In our work with children and youth, we use approaches that are based on research and best-practice guidelines, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and other research-supported approaches. With children, we focus on developmentally appropriate, engaging, and playful strategies, using age-appropriate language and interactive activities. In our work with teens, we meet them at their individual stages of development and provide support tailored to their unique circumstances. We offer collaborative and respectful support that promotes independence, the use of effective tools, and resilience.
By offering counselling services, we aim to equip children and adolescents with the necessary tools to effectively manage a range of mental health concerns, including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, school anxiety, phobias, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related disorders, interpersonal difficulties, day-to-day stressors, behavioural challenges, and other issues. We also support youth experiencing emotional regulation difficulties, perfectionism, and school-related stress. When working with children and teens with ADHD, we use a neurodiversity-affirming approach, focused on strengths, affirmation, and practical skill-building.
We are committed to fostering resilience, teaching skills and strategies to promote well-being, and facilitating the growth and development of children and teens through our professional and compassionate approach. Our goal is to help young people build confidence, practical tools and strategies, and lifelong emotional resilience.
